Advancing nanoscience for a sustainable energy future
3Nano-SAE is the Nanosciences and Alternative Energy Sources Research Centre at the University of Bucharest — a university-based research and education hub working at the intersection of physics, chemistry, materials science, and engineering.
Hosted within the Faculty of Physics, University of Bucharest, 3Nano-SAE conducts university-led research, development, and demonstration (RD&D) in alternative energy technologies and the nanomaterials that enable them.
The centre's work spans solar fuel conversion, hydrogen technologies, fuel cells, batteries and supercapacitors, microbial bioenergy systems, and advanced nanomaterials — combined with master's, doctoral, and postdoctoral training programmes that prepare the next generation of researchers in sustainable energy science.
Training and research in solar fuel conversion
The centre's activities cover five interconnected areas — combining advanced fundamental research with education and training at the master's, doctoral, and postdoctoral levels.
Master & doctoral school
Advanced training programmes in renewable and alternative energy sources, integrated with active research projects.
Hydrogen economy
Fuel cell and hydrogen technologies, batteries, and electrical vehicle applications — from materials to working prototypes.
Energy materials
